What to do if you need a chlamydia test
You shouldn’t delay having a chlamydia test if you’ve had unprotected sex although you might also be advised to test again two weeks after having sex. Testing is quick and painless, usually involving giving a urine sample or taking a swab of the vagina or entrance to the urethra in men. You may have a swab of your rectum or throat if you’ve had anal or oral sex.
If you test positive, you will be advised to test for other STIs in case they were also passed on during unprotected sex. Chlamydia is treated with a course of antibiotics, during which you should not have sex.

"The complications of chlamydia can be severe if left untreated, with particular risk for fertility. However, a quick test and short course of antibiotics can detect and treat chlamydia early. It is still important to use barrier methods like condoms and dental dams after testing to prevent a new infection."
